Our Picks for the Best Breakfast on Tybee
Everyone knows that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Whether it’s eggs and bacon, chicken and waffles, cereal and milk, or oats and fruit, starting your morning with a satisfying breakfast sets you up for a successful day. Tybee is home to several restaurants that specialize in breakfast, delivering a variety of options that are as diverse as they are delectable. If you’re a new Tybee resident or a first-time visitor, you may be wondering where to find the best breakfast on the island. We’ve got you covered. Here are our favorite breakfast spots around town, and we’re pretty sure they’ll soon become your favorites too.
The Breakfast Club
Serving islanders since 1976, The Breakfast Club is an obvious choice for a mouthwatering morning meal. Their menu includes ‘egg-citing’ egg orders with your choice of meat, which includes specialty options like Polish sausage, Italian sausage and chorizo, along with traditional options like bacon and ham. They also have a variety of fluffy omelets, sensational sandwiches, and ‘awful-good waffles’. The Breakfast Club is known for their pecan waffle and their signature Popeye omelet, but everything on the menu is super tasty here.
Mi Vida
If you want to start your day with something as delicious as it is nutritious, Mi Vida is the place for you. Their breakfast offerings include scrumptious smoothie bowls like the classic acai or the beautiful blue spirulina, as well as a variety of toothsome toasts such as the sweet almond toast, the marvelously mediterranean Greek toast, or the local favorite low country toast, which is topped with local wild-caught shrimp, a cajun veggie sauce and verdant microgreens. Mi Vida has vegan and vegetarian options available to accommodate different diets, so there’s something for everyone. Be sure to wash your meal down with one of their fresh, flavorful cold-pressed juices.
Sunrise Restaurant
Sunrise Restaurant opened its second location in 1990 on Tybee and has since earned its reputation among islanders for quality and quintessential Southern cooking. Sunrise signatures include their hash brown deluxe, raisin cinnamon french toast and local staple shrimp and grits. In addition to breakfast classics like omelets, waffles and a plethora of handhelds, Sunrise Restaurant also offers a bountiful breakfast buffet, so you can eat to your heart’s content.
The Surfing Goat
Despite being a relative newcomer to Tybee’s culinary scene, The Surfing Goat has quickly become one of the island’s most beloved breakfast spots due to their chill vibe and soft steamer bagel sandwiches. They offer an appetizing assortment of ‘brunch-ish’ and ‘lunch-ish’ bagels that can be enjoyed any time of the day. Their Morning Dew bagel, topped with egg, avocado, arugula and Inferno hot sauce with herbed cream cheese, is a bold breakfast bite, as is the aptly named Hellbender, which combines bacon, sausage, egg and jalapeno on a poppy seed bagel. Pair your bagel with one of their organic coffee drinks for a perfect Tybee breakfast.
Wet Willie’s
With locations throughout the country, Wet Willie’s is known for their frozen daiquiris, which come in a variety of flavors and alcoholic contents — the Call A Cab is not for the faint of heart. What you may not know, however, is that certain Wet Willie’s locations also offer breakfast, and Tybee’s is one of them. The no-frills breakfast offerings here are simple yet satisfying. You can’t go wrong with their biscuits and gravy or the breakfast burrito. If you’re feeling adventurous, ask for the daily scramble for a unique creation from the chef served with toast and home fries.
