Verification of Licensure - Endorsem*nt to Another State or Country

NOTE: This verification request process is not for applicants applying for California RN licensure.

If you are currently a California RN or previously held a California RN license and are seeking licensure:

• In another state, you may submit your request via Nursys®. To request an Out of State verification, please visit the Nursys® website: www.nursys.com

  • Please refer to National Council of State Boards of Nursing's Contact a U.S. Member page for a directory of all state nursing boards.

    NOTE: Advanced Practice certifications will not be included with RN license verification requested via Nursys. To request verification of Advanced Practice certifications, you will need to submit a request directly to the California Board via BreEZe online.

• If you are in another country requiring verification of your California RN license, please follow the instructions below:
  • Obtain a copy of the appropriate application packet from the nursing board in the country in which you intend to apply for licensure.
  • A request for California License Verification will be sent directly to the country for which you are applying. You will need to provide the specific country information at the time you are applying for California License Verification.
  • A request for license verification must be completed online via BreEZe.
    • Log into your BreEZe account online at: www.breeze.ca.gov
    • Initiate and submit a "Request for License Letter"
    • Enter in all requested information
    • Pay the $100 verification fee online
    • Click Submit
  • The fee for Verification of your RN license, including any Advanced Practice certifications, is $100 per country in which you are requesting it to be sent.
  • All verifications completed by the California Board of Registered Nursing include both the RN license and any Advanced Practice certifications held in California; a separate request and/or fee is not required.
  • Follow up with the other nursing board within three months to ensure they have received the verification. The Board will only re-mail a lost verification within three months of the original mailing date.

NOTE: The completed verification form is emailed or mailed directly to the nursing board and is not returned to the requester. Please refer to our Processing Time page for current timeframes.

Verification of Advanced Practice Certification

If you require verification of your California Advanced Practice certifications, please follow the instructions below:

• A request for license verification must be completed Online via BreEZe.
  • Log into your BreEZe account online at: www.breeze.ca.gov
  • Initiate and submit a "Verification Request"
    • NOTE: This must be completed under your RN license rather than your Advanced Practice certification(s)
  • Enter in all requested information
  • Pay the $100 verification fee online
  • Click Submit
• The fee for Verification of your Advanced Practice certifications is $100 per state or country in which you are requesting it to be sent.
• All verifications completed by the California Board of Registered Nursing include both the RN license and any Advanced Practice certifications held in California; a separate request and/or fee is not required.

Licensure Verification for Employer

A request for Confirmation of License Renewal - Verification for Employer can be completed in one of two ways:

• Online via BreEZe:
  • Log into your BreEZe account online at: www.breeze.ca.gov
  • Initiate and submit a "Verification for Employer"
  • Enter in all requested information
  • Pay the $20 verification fee online
  • Click Submit
• Submit by mail:
  • Attach a check or money order in the amount of $20.00 made payable to "BRN" and mail to:
    California Board of Registered Nursing
    PO Box 944210
    Sacramento, CA 94244-2100

Please note the following:

• The fee for Confirmation of License Renewal – Verification for Employer is $20 per request.
• This Verification for Employer includes your name, license number, issue date, expiration date and status only.
• This may not be used for licensure verification to another state or country. For verification of California licensure to another state, review section "Verification of Licensure - Endorsem*nt to Another State of Country".
