Does tinted SPF have makeup? ›

Yes. Tinted sunscreen does look like makeup as it contains iron oxide which helps to cover up any existing pigmentary blemishes on the skin and helps with uneven skin tone.

Pharmaceutical grade sun care is typically found at a Doctor's office, skin care practice or medical spa. Over-the-counter sunscreens usually do not contain as many active ingredients as medical grade, with only the 70% pure ingredients required by the FDA.

Tinted sunscreen and foundation have entirely different functions, so they're not interchangeable. One protects your skin from sun damage with a subtle hue, while the other is responsible for coverage and color correction.

Some tinted sunscreens may increase the likelihood of breakouts if they are not oil free and non-comedogenic. It is extremely rare that iron oxide causes an allergic reaction. Look for tinted sunscreens that contain an SPF of 30 or higher. The ideal formula will depend on your skin type.

Remove Correctly: At the end of the day, make sure to thoroughly remove your tinted sunscreen with a gentle cleanser or makeup remover. This helps to keep your skin clean and healthy by preventing clogged pores.
